After the cookies' the dishes.
Well, the silly season is almost over. A big shout out to the Goddess for seeing me through another with most of my marbles intact. I would like to to write you a story detailing all the deeply spiritual and magickal things that I did with my son this year but the truth is, we didn’t.
This year our main lesson was “Let’s see how far we can push Mummy before she cracks. Ooops, too far!” The last month or so my son has become this greedy, whining, demanding brat and the gloves came off about a week before Christmas. I won’t go into all the details, but even the Santa at the mall heard me yell at one point. I was just fed up. I guess we can say that my secondary lesson is that we are all human. We may be magickal. We may be divine. But included in all that is the inescapable fact we are all human. Period. And being a human can be messy, it can be dirty and above all else it can be painful. Deal with it. One of the greatest gifts we have as humans is the ability to learn from our mistakes. Sure it might be easier if we were dogs and just got a slap on the nose with a rolled up newspaper instead of all the yuck we go through but, there you go.
I guess the best lesson we can all take away this season is the magic that is inherent with the season itself. There is family, food, lights everywhere, decorations and so many colors and smells. If we allow ourselves to be children for just a little while we can step back through that veil that allows us to see magick as easily as we used to be able to do.
Now, I’m going to go to bed. This Magickal Mama is tired. So from all at my home to you and yours, Happy Holidays and may the new year find you safe, happy and mostly sane!
Namaste!
