Walking the Celtic Path..
What a thought. How do you walk that path? Where do the rules come from? What exactly is the Celtic path? These are some of the very first questions I get asked by someone who has recently found that this interested them and wanted more information. If you read the Introduction to this part of the website ,the who, what and where are briefly touched upon enough to get you started on your own web-search. There is not one single definitive book to date that I have found that will come even close to giving the answer in one place. So forget it.
You will find books from one publisher that is horrifically samey, with guesses, filler ins of their own, their own preferences and teachings and how they like things done rather than being actual fact. I am not criticizing, but am just highlighting that to be commercial and salable, they have to go with the current expectations of the publishers and public and are probably totally aware of the shortfalls. But as I tell my students, You gotta eat. So take all the books you may look at or read and understand before you open the pages that you are looking at someone else's opinions and their ways, their filters, their prejudices, their journey and not make it your own. They have value. It helps our Simian mind make the comparisons it needs to build on. Like learning to pick up a bone and use it as a weapon. Too many take the words to heart like the Bible. To the point they are afraid to move, think or do for themselves. For fear of reprisal or getting laughed at or critiqued if they do something wrong and there are those who actually do criticize and laugh based on the very same Flawed books I have mentioned.
There have been times when someone has brought a notepad and pen and sat opposite me and looked like they were roadkill almost. I guess for a moment my facial expressions can be misconstrued as I work through the anger and sadness that that is how they feel they must approach the whole topic. Its not their fault. Its an indictment on the here and now that the simple joy of walking with the Goddess has been turned into a proverbial classroom topic and there is only this way or that way to do something, set out by the ones trying to make a living. No way.. not on my Witch Watch. They all very quickly learned a very different aspect before we even got to the Celtic path.
Take a deep breath. Be prepared to make that leap of faith.. faith in yourself that you can make your own way to the Lord and Lady. Loosen your tight grip on the books' cover, let it fall and walk away to start your very own journey on a Celtic path. To be strong and know that you are unique. One of the Goddess's Greatest gifts to the universe. Together, all of us, we can learn to sing with the stars,talk with the Trees and walk the Ancient Celtic path.
